In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Pikani), the Tsuut'ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Metis Nation (Region 3), and all the people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
About Heather
she/her

Becoming a mother was the single most defining event in my life. Through the highs and lows of pregnancy and motherhood, I came to know myself as a mother, a woman, and as a human being. This journey through conception, pregnancy, labour, the birth of my children, and beyond ignited a passion for helping Birthing Persons and Birthing Persons with Partners to navigate each of their own journeys to parenthood with confidence, understanding, empowerment and dignity.
As a Certified Birth Doula, Certified Breastfeeding Educator, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and trained Postpartum Doula, as well as a forever Mum to my own children, I feel able and confident in walking beside parents-to- be as they choose their own paths and write their own birth stories.
I believe that the confidence experienced by parents-to-be throughout pregnancy and delivery translates into increased confidence when baby comes home. The more we can learn, discuss, practice, and explore, the greater the anticipation and excitement (rather than uncertainty or trepidation).
My role is to create and maintain an educational experience and environment that is free of judgement and full of care. I will introduce and explain choices through pregnancy and birth, provide balanced information, and offer unbiased and wholly caring advocacy and support. It is my goal to amplify the birthing person’s heart and voice so that they can be heard and understood.
Both the pregnancy and the birth day belong to the birthing person and birthing persons with partners, and I will be there in whatever non-medical capacity is needed to best support each birthing person’s knowledge, understanding, self confidence, self advocacy and self determination.
At Cadence Childbirth Services Ltd., I am focused on creating education and birth spaces that radiate confidence, education, advocacy, and caring support. It’s your story, your way.

*I work in partnership with Michelle Finch of Finch Doula Services. Together we believe in a caring and collaborative approach to teach and support birth clients as a team.
